d&b J Series – Glass Animals @ Brighton Centre – November 2021
When British Indie Rock Band ‘Glass Animals’ toured Brighton in November ’21, Promoter “One Inch Badge” contracted us to provide a stacks ‘n’ racks PA System to support the show at the sold out Brighton Centre.
Working closely with the touring party, Hiykon’s Project Manager Ben Lawrance designed a d&b J/V Series System to accurately convey the bands signature sound to the 4500 strong audience. The system was comprised of:
Main Hangs: 12x J8/12
Side Hangs: 6x V8
Sub Array: 12x J Sub
Front Fill: 4x V12
Amps: 16x D80
Utilising d&b’s workflow, the system was modelled in ArrayCalc in advance using venue data that we have obtained from our many visits to the seafront venue. This was transitioned to R1 to give us precision control and system monitoring, allowing us to shape the PA to the exact requirements of the touring engineer. This software has become invaluable for system engineers as tools such as Array Verification add a security blanket to the setup, double checking that everything is not only plugged in but in the correct order before flying it out.
The signal chain remained in the digital domain from the time it entered the pre-amps on the touring Digico SD Rack, bussed via our Digico SD12, and output to the PA on AES at 96K via our Digico SD Rack with 32bit cards. This was run via a redundant Optocore Fibre network.
We would like to extend our thanks to One Inch Badge for the Hospitality, and very much look forward to working with them again.
