Last night saw our industry come together to stand side by side. The aim to raise awareness and make our voices heard by the government with the #WEMAKEEVENTS campaign, ‘Light It In Red’.
Why?
Because with events stopping at the beginning and a long way from being able to return. Thousands of jobs are at risk. From production companies to prop suppliers and technicians to hire companies and so so many more that make up our wonderful entertainment industry.
We all work in this event world because we love bringing people together to be entertained. Unfortunately we can’t and it is a misconception that outside events can happen. With restrictions hampering audiences it makes outing any event on financially unviable. This in turn means kit bot being used. Venues still closed and all the hard workers that would bring an event to life stuck at home. Many of them likely to loose their jobs when the furlough scheme ends and some freelancers having to leave the industry to get an income.
We need help and we needed it soon to help save an integral UK industry market, to help us survive so that in the future we can bring back the entertainment events that is so loved by all.
